Teamwork quality is determined by how team members communicate. Team performance can be improved by developing patterns of communication where each team member communicates often, equally and energetically with the team as a whole, with each individual team member, and with external entities that can bring new perspectives to the team. Performance is less about what we communicate and more about how we communicate. The three main communication patterns include: energy, engagement and exploration. Corporations should think of how they design offices and also state that giving feedback to others helps them to make more productive choices about communication patterns.
