This article focuses on the need for intentional social diversity in groups to improve the group’s performance and quality of results. The idea is social diversity brings divergent perspectives that often aren’t present in homogenous teams. The article is supported by a research experiment testing homogeneous vs heterogeneous groups assembled to solve a murder mystery. Leaders should assemble teams and promote divergent thinking to achieve novel high performing solutions.
