This book is written by General Stanley McChrystal led the Joint Special Operations Task Force in Iraq from 2003 to 2008. During this time, he transformed the organization from a top-down command style of decision making to one of empowered teams through transparency of information and “shared consciousness.” He relays that a constant learning mindset, fed by sharing and receiving information with the entire team, is critical for pivoting successfully to address a constantly changing problem set.
