This article from HBR based on McKinsey research provides a good view of why leaders need to change if they expect to lead organizational change. It provides an approach to figure out a path to personal change. Specifically, who and what can trigger a leader and talks about “Transference”, when we transfer our feelings onto someone else. To quote from the article, “In moments of transference, a leader’s behavior is shaped and motivated more by their past experience than what is happening in the present.” It is not sufficient to identify triggers but a leader must write out the narrative to realize change.
